BTSensor Placement and Orientation

In order for tracking to function correctly, multiple BTSensors must be arranged to have overlapping fields of view of the Space. A BTSensor's field of view is the part of the Space that is visible through the BTSensor while the BTSensor is in a fixed position and orientation.

Attention:

  • BTSensors must not be installed closer than 1m apart to help ensure optimal sensor calibration. Good sensor placement and orientation are absolutely critical to proper operation of the BTSystem!
  • BTSensors must be FIXED in locations with the best unblocked view of the tracking space and NOT TO BE DISTURBED. If you change location or shift the focus, you must re-calibrate the system.

Planning the Tracking Space

General considerations when planning the tracking space:

  • Tracking requires at least two (2) BTSensors to see the marker at all times.
  • Tracking area must be defined.
  • Placement of BTSensors around obstacles and objects within the defined tracking area.
  • Optimizing coverage with the number of BTSensors.

Placement and Orientation

  • Stringers must be seen by a minimum of two (2) BTSensors to calculate a location.
  • Place BTSensors to have unobstructed, overlapping view angles of your tracked space.
  • Place BTSensors in a formation to provide close to 360-degree coverage of your tracked space.
  • Multiple BTSensors should cover each part of the space you intend to track in.

Attention: Avoid situations where arc-source lights, projector exhausts, or other IR/heat sources are visible to BTSensors. You can mask these sources out in the software, but it is best to avoid the situation entirely, if possible.

Placement Spacing

  • Place BTSensors a minimum of 1 meter apart. For some venues with limited hanging points, you can place BTSensors closer if they are aimed at different areas.
  • Place BTSensors in pairs that are located opposite each other to provide optimum tracking performance.
